Q&A

Q&A
Q - How do I pick the right photographer?

A - If you do your homework correctly, talk to your friends about a photographer they hired, searched the internet and spent a considerable amount of time looking at websites and blogs from at least 5 different photographers, than you are on the right track! Dont just look at the website, see if the photographer has a blog, the blogs are always more fresh and explains a bit more about the feelings of the photographer. Its easy to take good pictures for a talented or gifted photographer but its not always easy to write about them.
Do NOT base your decisions on just a few websites or blogs, email or call the photographers and setup a consultation, these should always be no pressure consultations! YOU NEED TO MEET IN PERSON! Look at a few, full weddings from the getting ready shots to the reception, look for consistency. Ask for years of experience and how many weddings has the photographer, photographed...was he alone or with an assistant, is he the primary photographer (meaning will he shoot your wedding from A-Z, beginning to finnish)? THIS IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT!

Q - What do I look for in a good photographer?

A - I always say that there is 3 things to finding the right photographer for your special day. #1 Do you like their style, is it natural and not a cookie cutter that everybody does, do you imagine yourself in those photos, do you LOVE them?
#2 if the price or packages are listed, can you afford it? Budget is everything but if you dont hire the right person for the right job, you will be stuck with the results for the rest of your life!!! There is always a way to negotiate ( to a certain extent ) we do our part and you do yours, maybe have 10 people less for your reception, to afford a higher package...ok maybe 20! #3 Connection, Chemistry...is everything, I can be the greatest photographer in the world but if we dont click its not going to work and visa versa, I need to know what you are looking for and you need to hear what I can provide, the only way to do this is to MEET IN PERSON!

Q - How much? What can I expect to pay for good work?

A - Well, thats really up to you and your budget but at the moment it ranges between $4000-10.000 for some really good work and sometimes even more. Sure there is much cheaper than that, your friend or your uncle have offered to do it for free, as a gift. My friend has been flying as a pilot for 2 years on Microsoft Flight Simulator (I love that game) if he offered me to fly me to Vancouver for free, would I take it!? NO WAY...I LEAVE THAT TO THE PROFESSIONALS THE EXPERIENCED PILOTS!!! As you may guess the outcome can be devastating for me as well as my family....Can not be redone!
So if you want good work and a fantastic experience that will last a lifetime, than please dont experiment! Please!
